What is Lunar New Year?
Lunar New Year marks the beginning of the lunar calendar and is one of the most important holidays across many Asian cultures, including Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese communities. Each year is represented by a zodiac animal, and 2025 is the Year of the Snake, symbolizing strength, courage, and prosperity.
Traditionally, families clean their homes to sweep away bad luck and make room for good fortune. On New Year’s Eve, loved ones gather for a feast featuring symbolic foods like dumplings (for wealth) and fish (for abundance). Children often receive red envelopes (hongbao) filled with money for good luck.
